Produced by Bersa from 1978 to about 1988, this subcompact was the predecessor to the Thunder series. Made domestically in Argentina primarily for the police market, not many Model 97s, nor its sister model, the 644, were imported.
 
While the Walther PP-like design prevailed in both the original Model 97 and the Thunder, the Model 97 has some notable differences from both: Namely, the single-action only design, and additional button safety below the slide release.
 
This interesting piece retains about of 95% of its original finish, with some wear marks notable on the backstrap and right side near the muzzle.
